At a time when television was nearly non-existent and professional performing artists were a rarity in this area, the Kohler Women's Club began to offer guest lecturers and musical attractions at their afternoon meetings. Under the leadership of the late Ruth DeYoung Kohler, the Kohler Women's Club had grown to one of the largest federated women's clubs in the state.
